NEAR ENOUGH IS GOOD ENOUGH III: a solo exhibition by AARON BUTT
Near Enough (Is Good Enough) III, a new solo exhibition by award-winning Queensland artist Aaron Butt. This exhibition, running from 23 November 2025 to 4 January 2026, continues Butt’s critically reflective practice inspired by Frank Hurley’s photographs of the Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition (1914–17).
Through layered pigment, distortion, and abstraction, Butt interrogates the colonial and patriarchal ambitions embedded in early twentieth-century exploration, offering a contemporary lens on survival, environmental fragility, and human resilience.
“Despite the historicity of the subject matter, Near Enough (Is Good Enough) is an allegory for our current world — a way of seeing where imperfection, adaptation, and endurance matter more than conquest,” says Butt.
This exhibition forms part of a Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) supported project, made possible through the partnership between the Queensland Government and Moreton Bay Regional Council.
