Cheryl Mortimer is a Bribie Island–based multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans painting, printmaking, sculpture, and photography. With a career in visual arts education spanning over three decades, she has played a significant role in shaping creative learning within Queensland secondary schools, including Rockhampton, Caboolture and Morayfield State High Schools.
Since retiring from teaching, Mortimer has continued to develop an expansive studio practice, exhibiting regularly across South East Queensland, with works held in private collections. Her work is characterised by an experimental approach to materials and process, often exploring the chemistry of resist, the unpredictability of monoprinting, and the dynamic relationships between colour, texture, and form.
